FIFTH OUTREACH

FIRST OUTREACH AS A GROUP

REPORT ON TRIP TO GHANA IN MAY 2018

We then with the help of local drivers embarked on the 3 hour journey according to the sat navigators in our 4×4 convoy on the famous Eastern corridor road in Ghana. After what was halfway of our journey we were caught in a tropical storm and the journey became a snails pace in light of the state of the road.

The impact of this outreach where we treated more than 800 patients in 4 days was positive

Our Day-to-Day Activities

On the first day we traveled on the eastern corridor road before the storms. A section of crowd waiting on our arrival at St Augustine park. We had setup clerking  and blood pressure monitoring station. Met a section of the orphans and engaged with the locals in Tsito.

On the second day the team initially visited an orphanage that is supported by the Jon Moore haulage group where we treated  40 orphans a group that we would like to see annually if possible.

The team then took a day to travel to Tsito this worked well as the van and the team had an opportunity to review our activities .

Tsito:

The programme took the same format with the residents coming together to provide us with electricity for the van ( our generator had failed to work in Hohoe).

Tsito unlike Hohoe fid not have a dentist or doctor and the  primary care was provided by a Coho ( community health officer). The Coho was very eager to be embedded in the team and also have a crash course in management of some dental conditions.

After Tsito our next stop was Abutia which also took the same format.

On the 11th of May 2018, the outreach was aired on Joy TV today at 6am, the AM News, 10am and 12 noon.
